October 17, 2024

The first thing you should do in Istanbul is of course a tour around Bosphorus. You can visit Ortaköy and take one of the boats to begin your journey to the best locations throughout this unique route. Make sure to enjoy tee and simit duo during your trip. While on the boat, you can feed the accompanying seagulls with simit. You can also start your tour to explore the Bosphorus from a different location like Eminönü and Kadıköy, but many travelers believe Ortaköy is the best option. Once your tour is over, do not forget taking a walk on the Bebek coast and having a drink to relax.

After your relaxing cruise along the Bosphorus, continue your exploration of Istanbul by immersing yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of its historic neighborhoods. A stroll through the cobblestone streets of Sultanahmet will lead you to some of the city's most iconic landmarks, including the majestic Hagia Sophia and the stunning Blue Mosque. Take your time to admire the intricate architecture and learn about the rich history behind these ancient structures.

As you wander through Sultanahmet, be sure to stop by the bustling Grand Bazaar, one of the oldest and largest covered markets in the world. Here, you can browse through a vast array of goods, from intricately woven carpets and colorful ceramics to aromatic spices and traditional Turkish sweets. Don't be afraid to haggle with the friendly vendors to snag yourself a souvenir or two to remember your trip by.

For a taste of modern Istanbul, head to the trendy neighborhood of Beyoğlu, home to the bustling Istiklal Avenue. Lined with shops, cafes, and galleries, this pedestrian street is the perfect place to soak up the city's contemporary culture. Be sure to make a pit stop at Çiçek Pasajı, also known as the Flower Passage, to sample some of Istanbul's famous mezes and indulge in a glass of refreshing rakı, Turkey's national spirit.

No visit to Istanbul would be complete without savoring the city's culinary delights. Treat yourself to a traditional Turkish feast at one of the many charming meyhanes, or taverns, scattered throughout the city. From succulent kebabs and freshly caught seafood to mouthwatering mezes and decadent desserts, Istanbul's diverse culinary scene is sure to delight your taste buds.

As the sun sets over the city, make your way to one of Istanbul's rooftop bars for a spectacular panoramic view of the skyline. Sip on a refreshing cocktail as you watch the city come alive with twinkling lights, and take a moment to appreciate the timeless beauty of this enchanting metropolis.

Whether you're exploring its historic landmarks, indulging in its culinary delights, or simply soaking up its vibrant atmosphere, Istanbul is a city that will captivate your heart and leave you longing to return again and again.
