Turkey's first modern art museum, Istanbul Modern was founded by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) with the initiative of the Eczacıbaşı family. It first welcomed guests on 11 December 2004. The museum is located in Karaköy Galataport. Istanbul Modern hosts a wide collection of works from different disciplines, such as photography, design, architecture, new media, and cinema, ranging from paintings and sculptures to installations and video shows.
